The county board of supervisors is expected to consider soon whether to approve the Royal Rangers plan for an adventure camp in Twin Peaks. How do you feel about that proposal?
Despite being scaled down, the plans for this camp remain excessively intense and inappropriate for the mountains; the board should deny the permit.
The Royal Rangers have solved their most significant problems by downsizing; the camp should be approved.

A two-and-a-half-year romantic relationship gone sour came to a tragic end early Sunday when a distraught father led sheriff's deputies on a chase through the mountains before pulling into a snowbank in Blue Jay and killing his infant son and himself.

Most 6-th Graders Moving to MPH
In a unanimous decision, the Rim of the World Unified School District trustees voted for Option C, which sends all 6-th graders but those attending Charles Hoffman Elementary School to MPH in the fall. The 4th and 5th-graders from Lake Gregory Elementary will move to VOE, and Mountain High will move to the current LGE.

Students Reflect on Beauty
Some wrote poems, others created paintings, still others took photographs. One made a film and one danced. All these students at Rim schools celebrated the arts by participating in the Reflections program, sponsored nationally by the PTA and locally by the Mountain Council PTA.

OC to the Rescue for Wrestling Scots
"OC, OC, OC," chanted the 400 Rim wrestling fans. Rim trailed Hesperia 27-26. On the mat Rim sophomore Christian Mesarus trailed his opponent 9-7 with the final seconds ticking away. "OC, OC, OC." The noise level was deafening as the clock worked down past the 10-second mark. Mesarus seemed to gain strength from his fans. Six seconds left and the fate of the Rim team hung in the balance.

Giant-Killer Scots Beat Apple Valley
The Fighting Scots boys basketball team showed no signs of having taken a week off from practice as they beat Apple Valley 58-50 last Monday. Rim led most of the game and by as many as 14 points in the third quarter. The Scots withstood the Sun Devils late rally picking up their second league victory against five losses.

Lady Eagles Tame Rough Riders 63-42
The first quarter of Saturday night's game between the Lake Arrowhead Christian Lady Eagles and California Military Institute looked like it was played in slow motion with both teams looking out of sync. The Eagles woke in the second quarter, scoring 20 points to take a 27-18 halftime lead. After that, they tamed the Rough Riders, winning 63-42.
